I chose not to go to BlogHer for similar reasons. I just couldn't face leaving my boy when those tickets were going out. Of course, now we are taking a long weekend to Chicago and leaving J with Grandma. And I'm taking 4 days to go to S carolina with friends- with the stipulation that I can run home to my baby if I need to.

As others have said, it does speed by and I dare say that the time between 6 months and a year speeds by at warp speed (there are so many milestones happening that it seems to make things go by even more quickly).

I applaud you for being dialed into how you are feeling and support you 100% in not going.

I am nothing close to who I thought I'd be after having a baby. I want to do things that I had ZERO interest in before and did NOT anticipate whatsoever that I'd want to do. And the things I thought I would TOTALLY want to do (ladies-only houseboat trip), I'm not all that into doing that now.

It really is amazing how much they can change you.

Its funny because I bought my BlogHer ticket I was pretty sure I'd decide to sell it but now I am so excited to be taking Little Miss with me to NY.

My time with her - just the two of us - is as precious to me as the time as a family.

Preachin' to the choir! I have 4.5 months left and am really only NOW getting how LUCKY we are to get 1 year off with our kiddos. I am savouring all the time I have left with him and am giddy for the THREE family vacations we are taking this summer: with my folks, the mister's folks, and the three of us.

I know how you feel. I still long for a family vacation, just the three of us, since really we travel to see extended family right now.

And yes. It goes really quickly. I'm amazed at how fast 2+ years have gone. The great news is that kids are the master at living in the moment, and I have learned a LOT about enjoying the here and now with O.

I think you are wise to savor this time for yourself, for D, for your hubby and for your family.
