Busy Little Baker

Yea, in the last couple days I've done diddly-squat because of this damn cold (not cuz it's killing me, but cuz I'm trying to REST so it doesn't get any worse, and so I can be better BEFORE labor), and yea it's driving me INSANE cuz I'm someone who NEEDS to be BUSY (even if it IS with menial tasks), but if I take a deep breath, and try to just SUCK IT UP (cuz I DO want to be better PRE-labor), in this month off, I'm happy to say I've done a LOT. A lot a lot.

I touched up the paint in both bathrooms where I thought the renos weren't quite good enough, poly-filled/sanded/primed/painted the dings throughout the house where stuff hit walls throughout the renos, returned MANY things [we thought we needed but didn't] to Home Depot & Rona and specialty plumbing stores, painted the new baseboards and a table for the kid's room, listed and sold our espresso maker that we never use, did a MILLION loads of baby laundry, re-assembled the ensuite AND linen closet AND hall closet, washed out the front hall closet (including all the jackets and shoes covered in sanding dust), got the photos for the kid's room mounted (so they're ready to hang), cooked a whack of stuff to freeze, bought the last of the PRIORITY kid's stuff (like diapers), assembled "the room" (with the husband's help on some things), sorted all the kid clothes into bins by size AND labelled said bins, took a whack of stuff to the Salvation Army, forced the husband to take a DIFFERENT whack of stuff to the storage locker, moved stuff around in the kitchen to make room for all the baby stuff that will eventually need ITS own space - and and and... well, a whole lot more stuff I can't even remember...

Most importantly though, even with ALL that busy-ness going on, I seem to have baked me a kid who's not only head-down still (yay!), but a kid who probably weighs around SEVEN POUNDS!!! Or at least that's my OB's guess.

And yes, I AM happy that he's 7lbs-ish because it means he's GOOD and STRONG (despite me now measuring big some weeks and small on other weeks*). But honestly, it threw me a little? I just kinda ignorantly figured that having gained only 19-20lbs (varies week to week right now), AND still measuring small some weeks, well... naively I figured that would mean he was around SIX pounds. Don't ask me where I got that number, cuz I'm sure I just randomly pulled it out of my ASS, but I figured cuz I'M small, HE'D be small - or at least he would be with a (minimum) week and a half to go?

And yes, I DO know it's only a pound difference, and yes I DO know for labor it ain't gonna make a SPECK of a difference to my lady bits (a watermelon fitting through a keyhole is STILL a watermelon, regardless its exact weight), but admittedly, I'm surprised! And kinda proud! Cuz to all those naysayers who were all "you're so small" and "you should slow down your exercise" - well guess which finger's pointed north atcha now naysayers?!

Either way, all is well, and I guess this stuff could happen ANY time now! Although, with my OB leaving for a week in a vineyard this coming Friday, I'd put good odds on me going into labor sometime AFTER he's on his flight out, and sometime BEFORE he's on his flight back.

*At my weekly appointments, my OB now gives me my sheet after he's done. He wants me to carry my latest stats with me at all times in case I go into labor. That way the hospital has the latest and greatest info.

O M G, you have turned nesting into an art form. The rest of us could never hope to measure up to your magnificence. BTW, I have plenty of nicks and dings that could use filling at my house.

Congrats on Tiny B not being so tiny after all.

Ha! 19-20 lb of weight gain could translate into 10 lb of baby and the rest as other. Given that it was Asswatch 2009, I'm surprised Tiny B isn't bigger!

Congrats on all the accomplishments. You have been a busy little bee. If you'd like to come over and clean out my closets and take stuff to the Salvation Army, that would keep you busy for another week or so.

You have been so busy but I'm glad your resting now. Being able to rest before labour is probably one of the biggest things that got me through it all as it did. You're going to be great - treat yourself well for as long as you can!

I think you look fabu for 38 weeks. I was huge by that time and couldn't walk anywhere without knocking most of what was in my way over. Not long now for you. YAY!

Oh my good lord. I could hate you right now, you are SO FREAKIN CUTE!!!!!!! Seriously, you look amazing! And doing all that stuff? Pregnant? I had my arse on the couch by that point! Firmly. Of course, that is probably why I didn't look so amazing! ;)

Good for you for slowing it down. With the deadline just around the corner, I know how tough that is.

And 7lb?!?! YAY!! Suck it, naysayers!

You look fantastic, Chicklet. I can't wait to meet Tiny B.
