37-40 Weeks

While not much has changed since the 37 week mark was approaching, I feel a need on my due date (today) to do me up a final list of where I'm really at with this whole pregnancy thing, cuz I may never do this again, so I want it written - so I've got it... in case I want it... for some weird reason I can't really anticipate at this very moment...

The belly button? Well, it's still half out and half in - meaning I do NOT have an outie just yet, but at different times of the day it's definitely more OUT than at other times of the day, where it's 100% IN. All depends where Tiny B decides to place his chubby little ass or back or whatever the hell it is (because yes, I'm one of those women who has NOT seen an elbow or foot protruding, so anything big, with a round edge, I assume is his butt or his back).

The heartburn? It's back to normal - well, normal in that I'm no longer DYING with it being 24 hours a day, and I'm no longer THROWING UP, but it's still there after most meals, or there when I haven't eaten in a long time. But it's not nearly as bad as it was so that's something.

The weight gain? I've reached a grand total of 19.2lbs as of the 40 week mark. Because while I'd gone up to 20, I then went back down to 18, and then back up to 19. I seriously have NO IDEA where all the ice cream is going but whatever, I'll take it. And I'll particularly take it with a Snickers bar cut up on top of it like the husband did last night. Forget boring old sprinkles or chocolate sauce, and get me a damn SNICKERS cut into little bits!

The hemorrhoids? I can happily say there IS hope for a hemorrhoid-free pregnancy as I'm apparently one of the lucky ones, who SO FAR, has managed to avoid them. Albeit I've become the most cautious pooper on the face of the PLANET (meaning unless it's rushing its OWN way out, I AIN'T helping it even the TEENIEST little bit cuz the hemorrhoid risk is too high), and albeit I have some time... uh, and LABOR... to go still, but so far, so good.

The Braxton Hicks? Meh, they've been going on (and off) for a month or so, but never with any real frequency, or intensity, or at least not any real frequency LONG ENOUGH to make me guess anything's changing. They come for awhile, repeatedly, and then they go away for hours or days. Then they come back, and sometimes bring sharp shooting pains IN my cha cha, but then they go away again.

The only thing that's a bit different I guess? My butt gets REALLY sore from sitting, even for short periods of time. I'm assuming that's cuz Tiny B is lower, cuz he also makes me pee many MANY times during the night now, but there's something about where he's moved that has made me have to remain active (which is not a bad thing) or I get too damn stiff.

So now we wait. Just like the husband and I both suspected we would (we figured for a late kiddo), but we wait.

Happy Due Date - @sswatch is nearly over and babywatch has begun!

Oh and I hate to say it but I was hemorrhoid free until the birth and post-partum!

I can't believe it's your due date!

My belly button never stuck out and I was huge. It just stayed flat.

Exciting

I think expecting a late baby makes things easier, I expected to go a week over and was almost right making it to 40 weeks and 6 days. Family and friends were way more antsy than me. Oh and I never got hemorrhoids either, at least not that I know of, but I’m assuming that is the kind of thing one would notice.

I just had lunch with Nancy and we were wishing you well!

(And toasting your general awesomeness, of course. We did not duck into a Home Depot, however.)

I'm so excited for you Chicklet. Wishing you an easy wait to meet Tiny B and a safe and easy birth.

And since you mention pooping here, I will pass on the single most precious piece of advice I got from my doula about pooping postpartum - counterpressure on the perineum. Wet a washcloth with warm or cool water, whatever feels better for you, and apply counter pressure to your stitches if you got em and your lady area if you don't. Maintain pressure until pooping is complete.

Oh, and stool softeners are your friends.

You can thank me later.

I had a 'roid free pregnancy- until the painkillers for my c/s. Now, as far as pissing myself and having to wear a Poise Pad to avoid that "nursing home fresh" smell- not so lucky.

Happy due date!! Well done on the roid free PG!! Hope it stays that way for you!

I didn’t get hemorrhoids until I pushed his head through, I literally watched 3 burst out of my butt in a full length mirror they had propped beside the Doctor.

I'm curious, and maybe I missed it in past posts, but they say giving birth is like running a marathon.
So I wonder if you (Marathon runner) what kind of birth you plan (or prefer, we know we can't make plans) but are you for the Natural? or are you all about the Drugs?

Happy Due Date!!!

Thank you again for all the running advice!

Wow! You officially made it all the way to the due date! Not long now...

I second the comment about the stool softener - at least for the first day or two. I never got hems, but I had a little tear that made anything going on down there incredibly painful.

My other advice? Get some nipple cream now - and start using it from the get-go!

Loving the advice ladies - thank you!!!

And Birdee, for me, I'm going in thinking I want to be drug-free (maybe just gas). I'm well aware things might change once I'm in the heat of things, and I'm completely open to that, but I want to try drug-free.

Going to the half marathon thing, I ignorantly think while the pain will be significantly different, there's a lot of mental stuff that goes into both the half and labor so I think I can do this. Who the hell knows if that's possible or not, but I want to try. I'm not against other people using drugs (cuz hell, I might even use them!) but I have my own issues with them so want to avoid them if I can.

Happy 40 weeks! I can't believe it's here already. Not sure about how it was for you (umm, the lady growing the baby and all), but it sure went by fast for me!

Chicklet -- I am SO excited for you, your hubby and Tiny B. I can't wait to hear the great news!

congrats on the due date- of course I am hoping that I am just getting to this post as you are actually going into labor!

On the whole hemorrhoids- I was also a lucky one that avoided all pregnancy & post-partum as well. I have two words for the after delivery poops- dried fruit. Oh- and ask for stool softeners too... gross- but helps so much!

Good luck & you'll do great! I think it really helps to have the go with the flow- be prepared for anything 'off-plan' approach. It helped me a lot when I had to be induced & didn't get any of my natural birth wishes- the end result (happy healthy babe & mom) is the same & worth whatever we go through!
