Being off work is weird. There's this whole LOVELINESS to not working when you don't HAVE to shower if you don't want to, you don't HAVE to do your hair and makeup, and you don't HAVE to pick out an outfit (that hopefully you haven't worn just the day before). But there's also this pressure to use my time WISELY, to GET STUFF DONE. Like yea, SOME Sundays you really can take it easy, but some? Well, with SOME, there is a LOOOOOONG to-do list waiting that HAS to be tackled to some degree.
And it's not to say that this week and a bit off hasn't been good so far, but it has been BUSY. Busy like I think I've been to Home Depot more times than I have fingers, because I've been DETERMINED to keep my contractors on task, and I am NOT paying them to run to Home Depot anymore when they should be FINISHING MY JOB. Busy like I've bought diapers, butt cream, breastpads, J&J bodywash, and a few other of those essentials I felt like I needed in order to feel READY for Tiny B to arrive anytime. And busy like I got my hair cut and colored, picked up our carseat (which the husband already installed, WITHOUT me asking!), and packed most of our hospital bag.
And today, it gets busy like my contractors are only coming in for an hour or so to finish ONE little thing, and pack all their shit up. Like they're DONE. They're LEAVING. I will be CONTRACTOR and RENOVATION FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Well, until our sink arrives, but that's a whole 'nother story which doesn't really matter right now cuz we have a FULLY functional ensuite, and a 99% functional main bathroom, so I'm happy. But happy THEY'RE done also means happy *I* can do the shit I've been DYING to do.
Like I can put all the linen closet stuff BACK where it belongs (in the ensuite, NOT in my bedroom), I can put all our drugs and bathroom stuff BACK where it TOO belongs, I can start putting stuff into the main bathroom (the husband has a few shelves left to put in tonight before I can finish), I can TOUCH-UP the little paint blobbies I think they missed but refuse to pay them to fix, I can dust my front closet AND all the jackets and shoes IN that closet [from the sanding mess they obviously didn't seal up well while working on it], I can put the grout and paint away PROPERLY, I can throw out the ENDLESS boxes from the ENDLESS crap we had to buy... and on... and on... and on. Essentially, I get to RECLAIM my house. And in particular, RECLAIM the 2nd bedroom, so we can start assembling that room.
But I think I'm going to have to be doing all that at a pace I'm not used to - a SLOW one. Cuz while I'm still having an easy time of this whole pregnancy thing, in the last two days my feet have started to swell (dammit!), and the pressure Tiny B puts onto my bladder sometimes - well, neither really allows me to be as efficient as I normally am. However, the AWESOME news of all AWESOME news (second to the fact that I am soon to be CONTRACTOR-FREE) is that the acid reflux appears to be gone. The heartburn is still there, but him turning seems to have lessened the reflux at least. Which I'll GLADLY take, because it means that at least now when I HAVE to take those pee and feet breaks, I'm not however throwing up in my own damn mouth anymore.

YAY for getting your house back!!!
So, basically you are saying you have to pick one evil over the other? Heartburn or swollen feet? They both suck.
Hmmmm....contractor-free and heartburn free at the same time?
A connection, perhaps?
Yay, you! Go mark your territory!
Contractor and reno free . . . it sounds dreamy!
How terrible to try to nest when your 'nest' is under construction. But it sounds like you have made fantastic progress!
I can't imagine getting all that done while undergoing renovations! So glad they are done so you can get done too!
So sorry about the ankles- I lost mine at around wee 35 & they only came back 3 weeks post-partum. It does suck, but eventually goes away!
RE swelling: drink lots of water (even though you have to pee all the time), avoid excessive sodium (including carbonated drinks, even sparkling water), and try to elevate your peds when you sit. I got bad swollen feet after giving birth.
No more throwing up in your mouth = always a plus.
Yeah! It's amazing how liberating it is to have the renovation project (almost) done and the contractors out of your house.
It's almost as great as getting rid of the acid reflux and not vomiting in your own mouth any more.
Actually, each one is sweet...but both together? That's completely decadent!
A few summers ago we had our kitchen and bath redone, plus new electric, plumbing, and HVAC. It was VERY stressful. I remember the relief when it was all said and done, and cannot imagine being pregnant through it. Well, I cannot imagine really being pregnant, but that's a whole other story! Anyway, so glad that's behind you!
My first few weeks of summer vaction are always pretty productive and then I get bored and loose focus. I actually like the routine and structure of working, just maybe not every damn day! :P
Yay for reclaiming YOUR house!
Sorry about the feet swelling...but I'm glad to hear the reflux has eased up.
Not working ends up being a paradoxical kind of relief - doing twelve different things in a day is much harder than just going to work and doing that all day. You have to constantly be your own project manager, although you have very little control over most other people involved in the tasks to be done.
But it is nice to be able to just take a break when you want to, and to schedule a mani/pedi in the middle of the day...
