35-37 Weeks

This Friday, I am OFFICIALLY, full-term. Yup, like I've been pregnant as long as they want you to be. Like I could pop at ANY SECOND. Even though I probably WON'T pop at any second. But hey, at least I COULD pop at any second, and still be considered full-term, which is a mighty good thing as far as I'm concerned.

While there's still a lot to do to get READY for said "popping", overall, things are good. To date, I've gained 18lbs, and I'm still feeling pretty good (other than being REALLY tired of the heartburn & cough, dealing with the newly swollen feet, and getting pooped so damn easily lately).

Overall though, for me, I think there's only a few differences between 37 weeks versus 35. First, man ALIVE could I eat sugar EVERY SECOND OF THE DAY if I let myself. All I want is sugar - for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. So in trying NOT to have sugar EVERY second of the day, I'm opting for a treat every SECOND day. Sometimes it's chocolate, sometimes it's ice cream - but it's always one or the other. And frack, since this kid is now considered FULLY BAKED, and I am MORE than done with this proper eating crap, I just need to do more of what *I* want and not be so well-behaved. Being well-behaved for NINE FREAKING MONTHS is growing old... FAST.

Second, I definitely get more tired MORE easily again - things are HARDER. They're not HARD per se (ie. not impossible or anywhere near that), just harder than they used to be, where I get tired within 2 hours of doing something - even something as simple as re-organizing closets needs a lot of breaks where I didn't used to need them. Breaks where I need to put my swollen feet (started at 36 weeks) up, or breaks to go to the can, a LOT (his freaking HEAD pushes into my bladder with an urgency that's kinda unbelievable).

Third, relating to the HARDER thing, exercise is definitely NOT what it used to be. I'm still walking, but I'm covering a lot less distance compared to when I was running, because it just gets harder sooner, and I could really go home and nap after - IMMEDIATELY after. I'm still doing weights, but a lot SLOWER than I used to, so there's probably a little less going on there too. And I'm still doing aqua once a week (twice this week!) which I'm finding the best out of everything - yea, I'm slower, and no, I don't have the same BOUNCE I did at 20 weeks, but the water is the only place where the WEIGHT of this kid lightens.

Fourth, in turning the right way 'round, Tiny B has pushed my belly button halfway out. And no matter HOW many times I try to push it back in, it ends up half out again. I'm hoping that's as far as it goes, but if having an outie (sp?) is what it takes to keep that reflux at bay (even though the heartburn's still there), is what keeps me from throwing up in my mouth all the time, and keeps him in the right place, I'll take it.

Very exciting that you are almost there! I am still walking alot, but slower and I agree, the swimming pool is the place I feel the best.
Go eat some sugar--you deserve it. It's all I'm craving as well.

Full term...Woo Hoo!

When I got to this point in my pregnancies, my body felt heavy, slow and tired, which is so different from how I normally feel.

You are almost there! Yeah!

Sounds like a perfectly normal last few weeks!

I honestly can't wait to hear about your life as a mother. Those first six weeks are really hard and seem to go on forever, especially if you're breastfeeding. Regardless, I'm really excited for you. Are you ready now to think ahead to what having the baby on the outside will be like? It's an adventure!!!

Go ahead and give in to the ice cream....I'm not even pregnant and I've had it 4 times this week!

Can't wait for Tiny B to make his entrance!

Yay! Full term is such a great feeling.

The energy will come back so fast. At the time, I knew I was tired. Looking back, I am amazed I was able to drag myself out of bed and brush my teeth in the morning. I was a SLUG.
