Being pregnant is just plain weird. And not weird in a BAD way, but weird in a WEIRD way. It's this thing that starts off so PAINFULLY slow, and takes FOREVER to get to the point of feeling even SEMI-real, and then suddenly, somehow, you're at 35 weeks and nowhere NEAR ready for all the shit that's about to come. Like you had NINE LONG MONTHS to do all these things, yet in month nine? Well that's when you ACTUALLY do them all. Or that's when you do them all if you're me.
While yea, we have the BIG things like a crib and carseat and and carrier, there's a lot of stuff we DON'T have. Stuff that for the most part I think we can live without for the first while (ie. stroller), or stuff the husband can run and get at the last second (ie. diapers) if things happen earlier than the due date, but still a lot of stuff we ACTUALLY don't have. Like a ROOM for him. Or even a ROOM for his stuff. Or I guess I can say that we DO have a room for him and his stuff, but JAMMED into that room is all the freaking BATHROOM RENO stuff, which makes it kinda hard to both FIND and/or PLACE his stuff. Which is another story in itself...
But, meh, I'm trying my damndest to just roll with that and be thankful that I'm even AT where I'm at - that I'm lucky to HAVE the problem of a reno and a kid going on at the same time.
As for the difference between being 32 weeks versus 35 weeks pregnant? Meh, not much? I'm definitely bigger in the GUT (but not the ass - woohoo! take THAT AssWatch 2009!), and I definitely can NOT lay flat on my back for more than about 30 seconds anymore without getting INSANELY uncomfortable, but size-wise, at a 17lb gain, I'm pretty damn good. I'm kinda unwieldy sometimes in that it's quite COMPLICATED to roll over or bend over [to get something], but getting up and down, or even around? Still pretty good. I have yet to waddle... although I'm not counting that chicken before it's hatched.
I've also been super fortunate that Tiny B's movements have not slowed down AT ALL. All the books and even my fabulous OB have been warning me that he's running out of room so WILL slow down (so don't panic), but overall? He's still going quite crazy in there - sometimes so crazy that I'm not sure he's not trying to turn, but he's just not QUITE smart enough to have figured it out yet, so he spends most of his day (and night) bumping his head up against my ribs again and again and again AND AGAIN, and kicking the crap out of my bladder... I have to pee, no I don't, yes I do, no I don't, yes I DO - NOW, oh, nope, I don't...
The only thing I can even SEMI complain about is the heartburn. Dear lord, the heartburn. It's there if I eat. It's there if I DON'T eat. It's there if I drink. It's there if I DON'T drink. Hell, it's there if I sit, stand, lay, poop, or even just BREATHE. And it's turned into full-blown reflux, which has driven me - the milk-hater of all milk-haters - to drink the thing I hate most. MILK. It's chocolate sometimes during the day, and soy at night before bed. For some reason (maybe cuz it's thicker?), only the soy milk prevents the night-time reflux. The regular or chocolate? It does NOTHING at night. But in all its soy-milky-disgustingness, the soy milk DOES seem to help. At least for a couple hours, until it rears its ugly head yet again.

Cant believe how far gone you are! Where has the time gone?!? Good work on keeping that ass small!!
Holy crap, not much longer now!
It does go fast. The first half not believing and the second half trying to get everything done...
I thought the waddle was part of the hips spreading to make it easier for birth? I thought it was a good thing? No?
One thing you do have: a giant stuffed giraffe. Which is important.
Like Heather said the waddle's not a bad thing at all but mine didn't start until her head engaged (which was 35 for me.)
Also Marsaili never slowed down - she was kicking away until the contractions started (and I loved it to be fair, no movement would have scared the bejeezus out of me!)
And I know you don't want to hear this but if you want to paint his room or reno it in any way get someone to do it (now or later) because painting in the 10 minute segments of free time you're going to have will seriously SUCK ASS!
I am so glad things are going well. You are almost there...just a few weeks to go.
Ok, so I suffer from terrible reflux most all the time ( I can only imagine wwhat it will be like when/if I am pregnant) but milk (not sure about soy) actually is not good for heartburn. It is an old wives tale, probably because it feels cool going down, but it makes the problem worse ( i found this out from my gastro dr after drinking milk forever but it only working for like the first 5 minutes). Things that are good, that work for me, are eating cinnamon, so I usually will have cinnamon toast or apples are good as well. Sometimes I have cinnamon on my apples. I also take zantac which helps as well. I am not sure if you can take that if you are pregnant.
Anyway, I hope that helps...a little.
Woo-Hoo on kicking AssWatch 2009 in the...well...ass!
You are almost there and are doing SO great!
I can't wait to read your post when the remodel is done!!!
Ah. The lovely heartburn. I only get heartburn with pregnancy. It's funny, after I have a baby, I find little rolls of rolaids in all my jackets/sweaters/pockets/purses/desk drawers/etc because I would get heartburn from drinking water. Ugh. It goes away the minute I give birth though, so you've got that to look forward to. You know, besides the whole BABY thing.
As for movememnt, my babies never really slowed down, except the movements got different. Instead of turns and kicks, I'd feel large stretches, thinking they're going to punch right through my belly.
I was going to say almost exactly what Nancy said about the movement. Never slowed down, just changed. You are getting so close!
Wow, it seems like only yesterday when you announced your pregnancy. I am so jealous that you haven't waddled.
O was breech up until the end, and dear lord the heartburn almost killed me. Literally bagels with cream cheese and milk was about all I could have in those last few weeks. If you're not doing it already - Zantac was a LIFESAVER. Lasts a LONG TIME. My OB cleared me to take 150mgs of it. Tums and/or Rolaids helped okay, too.
Once Tiny B turns, you should get some relief. Hopefully that's soon!
And well done on the ass department too. You look FANTASTIC.
xxx
Hot foamy milk with almond syrup. Yum. I drink it like water.
And Zantac. It is a blessing.
We are super unprepared too. And also have a nursery stuffed full of bathroom reno items. Somehow the same dumb renovation ideas seem to occur to all the knocked-up families :).
