My New Love

Monday night, a friend and I took off after work and went to MY second prenatal aqua class and HER first. And while I know it'd be pretty easy as an ambassador for Fit 4 Two to SAY that I loved it, I WOULDN'T say it if I didn't mean it, cuz it's just not who I am. Instead I'd find a way to avoid talking about it, or I'd find more constructive and general terms to use so as not to be unappreciative to the perks I'm getting... however, I don't need to be general, cuz this class? It ROCKS!

The first class, yea, it reminded me my body's not what it used to be, but meh, that shit is GONNA happen periodically during pregnancy and it was no fault of the class, just more the circumstance of getting into a bathing suit - something I haven't done in 5 months so no shit Sherlock that it was gonna be a bit of an adjustment! So to be fair to the class, and fair to the circumstances, I wanted to wait until I went to a SECOND class before I really talked about how cool I thought the class actually was. Because while one class can ALWAYS be fun, it's usually the SECOND class that tells you if you're gonna like what you got yourself into or not. It's the SECOND class that either reminds you why you LIKED it the first time, or reminds you why you DIDN'T like it.

Thankfully, this second class, was JUST as much fun as the first - probably even moreso. Partly cuz the body issues are dealt with (for now), and partly cuz the first class was a bit HARD the first time. Not hard like impossible, but just hard like I ain't anywhere NEAR coordinated enough to do this aerobics-type stuff so the first time was a bit of a learning experience. The second time though, going through it all again, I really started to find my patterns, figure out how to work with the water, and even take advantage of the fact that I could work HARDER in water because the impact to my joints is non-existent and the risk of falling doesn't matter.

Cooler though, was in this second class, in addition to the regular aerobics-type stuff, we also got to go in the deep end. And while to some (including my friend), that's a bit scary, it ended up being SUPER cool. We used these "noodle" things that I've only ever looped under my armpits, but here, we rode them like bicycles, and they TOTALLY kept us afloat! We rode them back and forth, almost in races, floating across the surface while still working up what would've been a sweat had we not been in the pool. Even my friend got more comfortable by the end and moved away from the ledge, letting the noodle really do what it's meant to do - and as a girl who's NOT so into swimming OR exercise in general, she couldn't have gone on MORE yesterday about how much even SHE can't wait for next week... so no, it's not just me, the little running freak, who found this fun.

Offer:
While I don't know if one of these types of classes is offered in your specific area, if you're local and on the Westside, shoot me an email - I can get you a free class to try out!! You'd get to try one prenatal aqua class for free with no obligation or stalking later (I promise!), plus you'd get to hang out with some VERY cool pregnant chicks... So even if it turned out the class wasn't your "thing", we'd get to meet!

You're inspiring me, Chicklet - I have to find something here in town. I doubt there's a prenatal aqua class but I'm sure I can find something that does the trick. I always do better at exercising when I sign up for a class, and the idea of being in water with no impact but still lots of exertion sounds perfect right now. Rock on, fit mama!

Sounds like a fabulous class.

My mother teaches the Deep and shallow (for over 15 years) at 5 & 6 am classes in and out door pool, and there is nothing more awesome to add to the experience than watching the sun rise over the mountains while bobbing up and down in the water. (Jogging or what ever).
I just wished I could get my butt out of bed more often to attend her class. I've turned into a piece of poo lately.
BUT You've inspired me too, I'm going to go now (before this belly thing is all over)

I loved aquafit classes early on. Now I just love being in the water but being active is just SO exhausting right now!

Good for you for keeping moving! You rock!

I just can't fathom putting on a bathing suit. I just don't think I could do it and be seen. In front of people.

I am so envious, I love aqua classes and wish I could do prenatal classes now. But it's winter here and the Swine flu is still pretty bad in these parts. Enjoy it for me too !

That class sounds like fun. I'm so glad you've found another way to workout and still get a great workout. Go Chicklet!
