This, well this is a photo the husband took when we were in Zanzibar, the place he proposed, after we'd only been together 9 months. Cuz after only FOUR months together, we moved in. And after only four and a HALF months together, we planned a MONTH-LONG trip to Africa. We were either EXTREMELY insane and not fully able to comprehend the TESTS this trip would put our relationship to, or we knew EXACTLY what we were doing. I like to think we were insane, cuz that's just WAY more who we are.
The photo though, has a story in itself. Cuz while it IS a photo of the PLACE he proposed, it is NOT a photo of the exact LOCATION he proposed. He'd PLANNED on proposing here, where the photo was taken, in the Emerson & Green Hotel in Stonetown, in this EXACT tub, because the hotel's famous for its GIGANTO bathtubs made out of SINGLE pieces of soapstone, and I'm a girl OBSESSED with laying in the bath for HOURS on end, but uh, I kinda ruined that opportunity by having to jump OUT of this bathtub and crap my brains out... repeatedly. Cuz apparently travelling in Africa, well it's not always that KIND to your stomach.
So with crapping and proposing not REALLY going together all that well, he waited until we got here, and parked our not-so-happy asses here.
...
Unfortunately the teacher's giving me the TAP, cuz apparently I'm gonna SINGLE-HANDEDLY ruin Show n' Tell if the other kids don't get a chance to talk. Gotta go.

Is this where the other kids get to talk? I love that you took a trip to Africa a few months into the relationship. You are insane :-) We did plan a road trip a few months in but it was DC through Canada. Still...hours in a car do not compare to hours in an airplane.
Awesome story of your engagement. Did you have the feeling that it was coming or was it a total surprise?
Fabulous story and great photo!
I love traveling fools!
You both have very hot legs.
You're definitely insane... but, if it makes you feel better about that - we met and R proposed barely one month later. And we eloped one month after that. And 2 months later, I dropped fucking everything and moved across the country to be with him. Fortunately, only the latter was a mistake (one word: inlaws) - the rest turned out to be the best decisions that I've ever made.
And seriously, I'm very jealous of your legs. Is that creepy? Ha!
Kymberli, it was a surprise and it wasn't. I didn't know it was coming on the trip, but I knew it was coming eventually. The weird thing is on the trip, I kept having weird dreams about him proposing and him TOTALLY f*g it up - and I kept telling him about the horrible dreams, and stressing him out:-)
Ahahahaaaaa! Hey, if ya gotta go, ya gotta go!
My husband had the ring for MONTHS (and I knew!), but he had trouble getting the nerve up, and he was waiting for the right place. He finally decided upon the KITCHEN, in the middle of me doing the dishes.
At least he finally did it. It was killing me to know he had the ring and was just waiting!
I love your show n tellin' it:)
I'm so jealous of the tub too. I love taking long hot baths, but my tub just doesn't really work for me.
And I think some of the best relationships are b/c of ppl bein' crazy.......well, except for the Hollywood ones, but whatever.
I love the pic and I LOVE the story!! I totally did not see that coming. I have had a few moments of my own ruined by an unexpected, emergent rush to the bathroom!
I love your story - much more romantic (except for the "stomach" problem) than my story.
After dating less than one month, DH moved in. Then I got cold feet and he proposed (maybe so he could keep living in the house??) and we were married less than three months from first date. No story a Mom likes to tell about her daughter!

Awww, he planned it so well and then it went to crap! Sorry...couldn't resist. Sounds like it all turned out well in the end!
I just wanted to tell you that I don't think you guys were completely insane for moving so fast. Sometimes you just "know..." My husband proposed to me after we had only known each other for 4 months and we had never lived in the same state (we met online). A lot of people told me we were crazy for moving so fast, but I knew in my bones that he was the one. We had known eachother for just over a year when we got married, and had lived in the same place for about 6 months at the time. During our engagement we had our "make or break" experience when we finished my aunt's basement together. Besides a crazy trip with a lot of illness, construction can either make you closer or drive you apart...
Thanks for sharing! You both have nice feet. =)
This was so great to read! I love Show n tell...think I might have to do it myself.
dude.
fucking hot legs.
You are going to ROCK IT in your bikini, aren't you?
And I want to se what the rest of you looks like. Maybe every so often you can post a picture with just a body part in it. And after awhile, we can paste them all together for a picture of you!
Nancy, that idea totally rocks - and I have bits of me in all sorts of photos so I might really be able to!
you made me spit my tea. thanks for laugh. sounds like quite an adventure. great pic and story, and yes great legs and feet!
