Why? Oh, because I've managed to turn the planning of IVF during Christmas into a project. Albeit, I AM a Project Manager, but ya know? Really. How far can one girl go?
Uh, apparently pretty far...
While I haven't created a Gantt chart yet, AT THIS POINT I really wouldn't be surprised if I end up with one eventually. Because these lists upon lists, well, they AIN'T really doing it for me. I mean, I guess they're KINDA doing it for me, because the other night I COLOR-CODED them, and color-coding ALWAYS gives me satisfaction, but I'm just not sure how long that satisfaction will last.
Regardless, here's where I'm at. Update as of November 8 2007...
- My lists upon lists? I've got them down to two simple spreadsheets - Christmas and IVF. Well, they're not actually that SIMPLE - they're kinda the MOTHER of all spreadsheets - but they're spreadsheets none-the-less and that must make them simple in some way, shape, or form.
- In the Christmas spreadsheet, there are COLUMNS for 'bought', 'wrapped', 'bows/tags', 'shipping box', 'labeled for shipping', and 'shipped'.
- There are also ROWS for all 21 gifts needed.
- And then of course there's ASSOCIATION cells for WHICH gifts have WHICH tasks done. These cells have been boiled down to 'yes' and 'no', and the yes cells are GREEN and the no cells are RED.
- In the IVF spreadsheet, there are COLUMNS for cycle days and dates, and there are ROWS for 'calls to the clinic', 'period', 'birth control', 'synarel', 'injections', 'blood tests', 'trigger/retrieval', 'prometrium', and 'transfer'.
- The best part of the IVF spreadsheet? It's NOT that the dates are entered using a formula so with one little movement in my cycle I can shift THE ENTIRE THING and know IMMEDIATELY which days I'm now shooting up, it's that it TOO is color-coded. Purple for calls to the clinic, red for period, blue for birth control, pink for injections, etc etc.
As for what it ALL REALLY MEANS?
- 14 out of 21 gifts purchased.
- 7 of those 21 gifts are already wrapped.
- A very good idea of what I have left to do for Christmas.
- And a great big ol' PLAN for what the hell our December's REALLY gonna look like.

GAWD... i need more structure in my life. . You and Sharah @ Outlandish Notions put me to shame
okay, your sick. admitting you have a problem is the first step. making a 6-page spreadsheet of the 12-step programs would be the next for you.
xo
Can you come organize my closet?
You are crazy (I mean that in the nicest, green with envy kind of way)!!! If anyone was ever going to survive the stress of the holidays and IVF it will be you.
You already have gifts wrapped???? Did I read that right??!??
:)
I've been known to spend so long planning things that there's no time to complete the actual task :)

I am impressed. NOT for your spread sheets...I am so not that organized...ok, so I am a little impressed by your oranization...but...what I am really impressed by is your Christmas shopping.
Oh yes...1 down...a zillion more to go here!
Very festive with the red and green for the Christmas one. I like!
You inspired me to at least whip out the paper and pen to start!
I must admit, you're not alone in your dork-dom. I too, have a Christmas spreadsheet. And suprisingly, it's VERY similar to yours.
Rock On, my dork-sister, Rock the Fuck ON!
Step 1: Remove Excel from your home computer.
Step 2: Block all spreadsheet software sites on your personal firewall.
If this fails, well, I can't help you...
Pax (and smiles)
You sound like me. I am the spreadsheet queen. I'm also a fan of typing and bulleting all of my questions and cycle history for all of my RE appointments. I'm such a dork. But I'm an organized dork, so it's ok. :)
um..are you available for short term contracts? :) and christmas shopping hasn't even appeared on the radar yet around here...you're amazing!
wow, I am truly speechless. Step away from the spread sheet. ;)
Wow. you are one organized Chicklet! Very impressive...
Yeah, I thought I was bad. It's nice to know that I'm not the only OCD-lunatic around here!
This is RIGHT up my alley;)
