Why Chicklet? Why Bloorb?

From ever since I can remember, my favorite word has been BLURB. Blurb blurb blurb.

You can WRITE a blurb, you can FORM a blurb, or you can just READ a blurb, but no matter what you DO with a blurb, it’s just plain fun to SAY blurb. Or at least for me it is. Partly cuz I’m easily entertained, partly cuz I say it with a GOOD HARD B at the end. I do NOT say blurb, BLURb, or blurp – I say BLURB-UH!

So now that I’ve got your attention, or lost it, depending on what level of freak you really are and how much time you’ve got on your hands, this is my site and this is me.

As for who I REALLY am, while I wasn't so ready to put this out there for the first year or so, in Nov 2008 I "came out of the closet" a little with a photo and my real name over here, and in June 2009 I "came out" even FURTHER here at Bloorb. But no matter how I far out of the closet I come, I will always POST as chicklet - a happily married 34 year old, more than a LITTLE obsessed with having chocolate for dessert EVERY SINGLE DAY, red wine on a sunny patio every SUMMER day, and an ever-growing arsenal of NEW and EXCITING ways to be mean to my charming (and extremely patient?) husband. In real life, I'll be Natalie - the same happily married 34 year old, but a 34 year old who uses her real name.

As for the husband and me? Well, when we’re not taking turns being complete JACKASSES to each other (the one doing the dishes shall almost ALWAYS receive a pantsing), we're usually pretty darn busy taking advantage of the fact that we live in one of THE most beautiful cities in the world – Vancouver, BC. I guess there’s also a PRETTY GOOD chance we’d be staring in GREAT adoration at my fabulous garden – cuz since buying a house I’ve discovered I love my garden SO MUCH I should marry it, but that’s a whole story in itself.

As for the question about if I’m so HAPPILY married, then why do I have a site filled with curse words? Well, cuz I LIKE curse words! Do I NEED to say anything more?

Truthfully though, it’s filled with curse words cuz it started off as a safe place for me to go and VENT about being infertile. Cuz it started off as a place where I could go and gather SUPPORT from people who really UNDERSTOOD what it’s like to be infertile. And if YOU’VE ever struggled with infertility, I’m pretty sure I don’t have to say much MORE than that – curse words and infertility go very VERY well together.

As for why I have a BLOG, why it’s named BLOORB and not BLURB, and why there are ADS on it, well, that’s a multi-layered question. I have me a BLOG, cuz I’m infertile. I also have me a BLOG cuz I’m lucky enough to have me a husband who makes me laugh every single day – what’s there NOT to write about? I have me ADS, cuz honestly, chicklet NEEDS A WINE FUND! Chicklet LIKES her red wine… And it’s named BLOORB, and not BLURB, cuz while blurb.com would’ve been fun, if you’re paying attention to the net lately, apparently there’s MONEY to be had with those double O’s – Dooce, Yahoo, Facebook, MightyGoods, and Google just to name a few. So I figured it was worth a shot. Or a glass. Or a bottle, if I'm lucky.
